Sanjay Garg’s Raw Mango creates the kind of saris you want to wear (often), preserve, and pass on to someone special. It’s been worn by everyone from Jaya Bachchan to Sonia Gandhi, and now their “classics”, as Garg likes to call them, are exclusively available with us at Ogaan.com.
It’s a label you can count on to deliver bright colours, and lush fabrics like chanderi silks and cotton-silk blends. But Raw Mango puts a new spin on them by introducing simple yet elegant motifs – like marigold flowers or four-petal flowers.
“This line has Raw Mango must-haves,” says Garg, of the curated edit on Ogaan.com. “You can dress-up these saris with a brocade blouse for a wedding. Or you can wear them to work with a neat cotton blouse.” He even advises wearing them with crop tops. “If you don’t wear your saris as often, you can still wear the tops – and even layer them up with a jacket for winter.” He thinks of them more as bandis, of course, which were traditionally worn under a sari.
The saris are perfect for summer. Think bright juicy oranges and pinks, midnight blacks, and inky blues with elegant gold borders. “They’re essentially light – chanderi silks with a beautiful sheen, and blends of half silk and half cotton,” says Garg, who likes to rely on traditional weaves and bold new colours.
